Yes you should add reverse diodes. Suddenly stopping a current to a coil can basically cause a spark of tens of thousands of volts.

Hi Tom.
I am tuning my 3 axis ac servo motors. what would be the best performance?, position mode or speed mode to select in the drives? the machine is a cnc router, my servo system is using differential line drivers for step and direction quadrature signals and differential receivers to close the loop with Kflop, they came from cnc4pc.
it works great at this point just need to do some final adjustments.
thanks in advance.

Hi Noel,
I believe you only have Step/Direction signals connected to the Drives which is Position with no way to control velocity. So the Drives would need to be in Position mode.

oh ok, yes now they are on position mode, so i was wonder what happen if switch to velocity, but i understand now, velocity mode would need analog signal like 0-10v+ right? and step and dir always would be for position.
thanks Tom
thanks Tom

Hi Tom.
I have an issue with the ATC C.program, it performs all functions ok, but when it finish tool change and position back to a safe location ready to start the axis X and Z stall and drives goes to error like if the servo motors want to speed up really fast, i know something in the c program is wrong because the rest of the programs runs great.
this is the ATC C program i am using. Regards

Hi Noel,
Do you have the M6 Action set to Execute/wait/Sync? If not try that.

I have Execute/Wait, i will try Execute/Wait/Sync.
Thank you Tom.
