Hi Noel,

The term fieldbus can be used for many different things. Two wires might be RS485? Possibly ModBus? If you knew all the details and protocols and IO assignments, it might be possible to keep it in place and use it.

Otherwise as you say, you might remove it and replace with direct connections.

Hi Noel,

Check the KMotion.exe Console Screen for any messages.

Can you move with KMotion.exe's Step Response Screen?

Please post your KMotionCNC | Tool Setup | Trajectory Planner Screen.

Hi Tom

I have a question regarding to the length of the usb cable from pc to kflop, i am working with a machine that it's electrical cabinet is located on one end of the machine but the control pedestal it's about 8 feet away, so i will replace the old control for a new pc and kflop, but i am not sure where to place kflop and IO's cards, inside the electrical cabinet nearby the drives and run a long usb cable to the pc or install kflop near the pc and run the step and direction wires 8 feet away to the drives, what would the best configuration to avoid electrical noise.

Thank you,

Hi Noel,

That's a tough call. USB is supposed to allow up to 5 meters so I would probably go that route.

Hi Tom
Is kflop affected when power fails? We have an issue when power fail sometimes, i have the pc and kflop's power supply connected to a ups so when power fail they still on only the machine turns off, when power get back we reset everything and rehome machine, but sometimes it runs away at very high speed, sometimes the spindle does not start after that power failure
