Controller and Driver Recommendation

Post by melkpus » Wed Jan 01, 2025 2:49 pm

Hello Tom, my team is developing a DED metal printing system, So we have basically four systems to control, laser source, XYZ positioning, power feeding system and CCD camera system. We wanted to use dynomotion controller (KFLOP). I have basically two questions, first is KFLOP only enough to control all including motor driving system or we have to add another motor driver? second we are going to use stepper motor of nema 17 and 23 respectively for xyz motion, is that tunable with that controller?

Hi melkpus,

KFLOP is a motion controller that can control up to 8 motor axes. It has no motor Drivers. Consider adding one or 2 of our KSteps Stepper Motor Drivers. Or other 3rd party Drivers.

Stepper motors are open loop devices. There isn’t any tuning required as is with closed loop servos. Sometimes configuring an axis’s velocity, acceleration, or jerk is described as tuning, but it isn’t really.

Hi melkpus,

What do you mean "it's not connecting"? KMotion to KFLOP via USB? Have you installed the USB Driver? What shows in Device manager?
