Is there a trick to enabling these? I used dac0=-2000 in console and nothing happens. All 8 DAC's are floating around 3 volts and will not change. I even hooked dac #3 to adc#3 to monitor the pins in the analog i/o screen, and it shows adc#3 708,3.457 volts and dac#3 -2000, 9.766 volts. The voltage can be changed on the screen, but it does not change the actual voltage read on an external meter. All 8 are the same.

Hi Todd,

There is no enable required.  It sounds like the +/-15V is not being generated.

A common problem is when a User's code configures something to use pins on JP7 that cause interference with the communication to Kanalog.  Selecting Step/Dir Output mode to channels 0-3 will cause this problem.

Is the Kanalog LED on?  Being on indicates communication is working, the charge pump is toggling, the +/-15V and SWE relay driver is enabled.

Tom,

0-3 are configured as dc servos through a snapamp, I believe the Kanalog led is on, but I will have to go to the shop to verify. I shoud be able to read from pin0 to ground and get a reading without any extrnal resistors correct?

Correct you can measure from JP11 DAC 0 (Pin1) relative to GND.

Also note that the screw terminals can not be probed unless tightened.

That should be correct.  The +/-15V is derived from the +5V.  +12V is not needed.  Is the +5V solid?

I can't think of why that would be.  I would suggest removing all connectors and the SnapAmp.  Apply +5V to just KFlop+Kanalog.  The LED should come on and the +/-15V should be present.  Otherwise the board must be bad.
