A potential new user here.
A bit of background first. I am an automated machine designer (15 years) primarily mechanical, but with a lot of electrical and programming experience. I guess 25% in the field turning (allen) wrenches. I will be able to manage all the hardware aspects easily.

I have worked on forward and inverse DH serial and parallel systems so I'm not COMPLETELY clueless there.

My weakness is in C, and in particular linux (where the EMC2 code comes from)...I'll probably be asking some naive questions there.

Any way I'm looking at building a desktop 5 axis unit. Probably a gantry/trunnion setup. I'll be starting with a trivialkins 3 axis mill for practice. (Gecko drives I think) My friend has a little gantry mill from way back, ball screws, MT2, ABEC7 spindle he's going to let me work with.

I'll be hunting the forums and manuals and trying to come up with good questions.
